Key Responsibilities and Job Description
- Have practical understanding of financial service laws and regulations, as well as associated legal proceedings on a regional level
- Oversee and monitor the implementation of compliance guidelines in relation to agent distribution network, e-wallet business and anti-money laundering and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and reporting on a regional level
- Lead regional compliance team and provide hands-on support for effective decision making
- Identify changes in legislation or regulatory environment and communicate their impact on a regional level
- Coordinate internal compliance review and monitor activities, including periodic reviews of departments
- Coordinate with regulators as a contact person so as to ensure that issues be raised to or by the regulators are resolved in a timely and positive manner, and maintain good relationship with regulators
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; independently investigate and act on matters relevant to compliance
- Develop policies and programs that encourage managers and employees to report suspected fraud and other improprieties
- Provide training and educate staff on regulatory requirements, compliance and internal policies and procedures
- Coordinate with regional compliance functions and others in the financial business group to ensure that business operations are undertaken in compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in law or higher and/or other degree from a reputable university
- At least 10 years of working experience in a financial sector with main responsibility in regional compliance and 5 years in a managerial position responsible for regional compliancein a financial sector, able to communicate complex regulatory issues to employees at every level
- Knowledge of financial service / e-money business and the relevant regulatory requirements
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and communication skills
- Strong understanding of Risk and Compliance frameworks and policies in banking businesses and financial technology
- Background experience in banking / financial services industry is preferable
- Exposure to business operations on a regional level
- Demonstrated interests in others, worked effectively as a team
- Determined and result-oriented to complete tasks and achieve goal
- Willing to travel extensively
